Our story

Happy Caravan has been formed by a group of people who pursue the ideal of a more egalitarian and inclusive world, gathered by the initiative of Ala Eddin Janid, a Syrian refugee who decided to help others who are going through a similar situation as his own.

A group of professional creatives, musicians, human rights defenders who believe that we could conceive a better and more peaceful world, with respect for the dignity and the rights of people everywhere, through the education of children as starting point.

Our main goal is to provide basic social, therapeutic and educational support to refugee children and their families in Europe. Our mobile classroom in refugee camps offers English, music and cinema sessions. Once families are allocated a new host country and are ready to leave the camp, Happy Caravan ensures there is a support network of volunteers and organisations in the host country to facilitate integration. We believe this network makes the adapting process easier for newcomer’s families.

Our favorite words are empathy, compassion and respect. Learning about other cultures, lifestyles, and traditions help us to create respect for each other, improve the feeling of common life and encourage peace.

As Nelson Mandela said once: ”There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.” We believe every child deserves to live in joy, kindness, friendship, respect.
